GenoSyst Ltd, a young Turku Science Park -based company, serves as bioinformatics core for the the ADIBET project, a four year EU FP7 programme that was launched on 1st of June. The project is part of the Marie Curie Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP) initiative.
The main goals of ADIBET are to specifically unravel the molecular mechanisms of adipokine mediated crosstalk between adipocytes and pancreatic islets, as fundamental determinates of the onset and progression of type 2 diabetes.
GenoSyst will work in close collaboration with two academic research groups from Spain – IDIBAPS, Barcelona, UK –University of Warwick, and with an SME from France - Obetherapy.
Large scale transcriptomics and molecular interactome analysis will be carried out using various new data mining techniques developed by the team.
Importantly, during the four years project also an active training programme will take place and GenoSyst will host several scientists and students from the partners.
