BioTurku companies


There are more than 90 companies in BioTurku, most of which have been founded after the mid-1990s. Pharmaceutical industry, diagnostic industry and food industry represent the traditional core expertise of the region which forms the basis for the new bio industry.

Companies in the established pharmaceutical industry include e.g. Orion Pharma and Bayer Schering, in diagnostics PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences (Wallac), and in food industry Raisio Group.
BioTurku is the Finnish pioneer in the field from which first companies, such as Biotie Therapies and Hormos Medical (QuatRx), have already proceeded to the commercialisation phase.
