Terms of use

The terms of use of the Turku Science Park Oy website and the Register Description

1. Terms and conditions of use

These terms of use shall be applied when using the website of Turku Science Park Oy (hereinafter TScP) found at www.turkusciencepark.com, and their sub sites (hereinafter Site). By accessing the TScP Site the user accepts these terms and commits to comply with them. If the user does not accept these terms of use, he or she is obliged to stop using the Site immediately.

The Site comprises the details, services, software, software tools, and the instructions and directions obtained through them, as well as all other content of the Site.

2. Rights and use of the Site

The Site includes material protected by copyright, trademark right or other immaterial right. The names, trademarks and other service marks and immaterial rights of TScP's products and services shown on the page are exclusive property of TScP. There may also appear trademarks or other symbols of third parties on the site.

TScP grants the right to view and download the material on the site for personal and non-commercial purposes. The users commit themselves to use the Site only for purposes that are in accordance with the law, the authorities' stipulations and good manners. The user must not in any way modify the Site or make copies of it. The material on the Site must not be sold, transferred, stored or shown, displayed or distributed in public or otherwise used for a public or commercial purpose. Using the material found on the Site for any purpose on other websites or a networked computer environment is prohibited.

3. User's responsibility and user-supplied material

The user is responsible for the material and contents he or she supplies to the Site or TScP, or through the Site to TScP or third parties. The user shall in particular take care that the material sent by him or her is not in conflict with good manners or the law or the authorities' stipulations, and does not violate anybody's copyright or any other right. TScP has the right but no obligation to remove such material or prevent its use without hearing the user. What is stated here also applies to the electronic market place on the Site and the advertisements published there.

Any material supplied to the Site by the user, be it of any kind, shall be considered free of copyright and non-confidential, and the user surrenders to TScP the right to utilise, copy, edit and publish and otherwise use the material for any commercial and non-commercial purposes freely without a charge.

4. Collection and use of personal data

The user's personal data can be collected, for instance, when the user participates in a competition, uses the market place, orders online magazine Spark and on some other occasions.

The details provided by the user while using the Site are collected into a user register maintained by TScP, and handled in accordance with the Personal Data Act. The user has the right to forbid the use of his/her data and surrendering it for purposes of direct marketing and market surveys by notifying TScP in connection with submitting the data or at any other time.

By submitting his/her personal data the user gives his/her consent on using the data, as well as his/her consent that TScP and its group companies have the right to use the data for offering services, advertising, marketing and for unsubscribed direct marketing as well as opinion and market polls.

TScP can identify the Site users, but it does not surrender any individually identifiable user data to third parties. The identification of users is based on a cookie, a small file that is entered into the user's computer. The cookies sent from this Site do not enable examining the other data on the hard disk.

The register is maintained by Turku Science Park Oy, Tykistökatu 4, FI-20520 Turku. The user has the right to check, modify and remove any details of him/herself from the register by a written notification by post or e-mail.

5. Operation and changes of the Site

TScP is not committed to Site maintenance and is not responsible for uninterrupted or faultless operating of the Site. TScP has the right, at its discretion, without an advance notice, period of notice or liability for damages to modify the Site, interrupt its use or remove it completely and prevent or forbid the use of the Site. TScP has the right to modify the terms of use of the Site. The new terms shall enter into force when they are published. The user shall accept the new terms by continuing to use the Site after the terms have been changed.

6. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

All material on the Site is provided "as is". The user uses and utilises the Site at will and voluntarily, and TScP is not liable for and provides no warranty for the availability, operating, accuracy, up-to-datedness or other similar qualities of the Site or for its suitability to the needs of the user or a third party or to a specific purpose. The material of the Site is only intended for informative purposes, and the information on the Site shall not be taken as juridical, medical, commercial or any other kind of advice, and the user shall not base his/her decisions on the material presented on the Site. TScP shall not be responsible for direct or indirect consequences of the utilisation of the Site or its sections. The user is solely responsible for the use and utilisation of the Site. For example, the details of events published on the Site may change, and TScP shall not be responsible for the postponements or cancellations of events or occasions, or for any direct or indirect damage resulting from them. The user shall him/herself confirm the correctness of the event schedules.

There is an electronic market place on the Site. When using the market place the user deals with and forms a contractual relationship with another user of the market place. As the maintainer of the Site TScP does not control and is not responsible for the products that are sold, bought or leased on the market place in any way, and neither is it responsible for the validity of agreements, deliveries, complaints or other similar issues implemented through the market place. All complaints and claims concerning the agreements made through the market place shall be presented to the party with whom the user has made the agreement.

TScP is not responsible for any kind of damage, losses, lost information or other harm directly or indirectly resulting from the use, prevention or termination of use or incorrectness of the Site, its sections or websites accessed through them or other similar issues, even if TScP had been informed about the possibility of such consequences. Neither is TScP responsible for any direct or indirect damage caused by data security risks related to the use of the Site or by computer viruses.

What has been stated about the Site above also applies to the Spark magazine ordered by the user through the Site and delivered by e-mail or by post.

The TScP Site publishes material that is supplied or produced by third parties or based on information received from them, and such material can be accessed through the Site. TScP is not responsible for any material, information or services supplied or otherwise produced by third parties appearing on the Site and accessible through it, or for their correctness, or that they are not against the law or good manners or do not violate copyright or other immaterial rights, because TScP does not control or question the materials supplied by third parties.

TScP is not responsible for the functioning of any links to websites maintained by third parties found on the Site or for the content, functioning or legality of such websites. TScP does not supervise the websites maintained by third parties.

7. Applicable law

The disputes arising from and related to the use of the Site and these terms and conditions of use shall be resolved in accordance with the laws of Finland.

4 The purpose of the registers

- organisation database: offers contact details and descriptions of the line of business of organisations operating in Turku Science Park via the internet.

- contact person database: promotes the internal communication of Turku Science Park; the database is only used by Turku Science Park Oy, Communications Unit.

- Spark e-mail database: enables sending of Turku Science Park news to people who have subscribed to it; the database is only used by Turku Science Park Oy, Communications Unit.

5 The information contents of the registers

- company name, contact person's name and contact details in the office, descriptions of the business, contact details of companies and personal e-mail addresses in e-mail lists.

- personal details: name and contact details in the office.

6 Regular sources of information

Only the persons concerned or their employers.

7 Regular disclosure of information and transfer of data outside the EU or the European Economic Area

The data is not surrendered to outsiders except for the contact details in the organization database that can be viewed by anybody on the website.

8 Principles of register protection

The data are stored in a Lotus Notes database that is located on a server of Alias Oy. The application only allows modifying and handling of details in the database by password, and the details in the database can only be changed by the database administrator. The database can only be modified through the application.

9 Right of inspection

According to section 26 of the Personal Data Act, a person is entitled to check his or her details stored in the personal register. In case of the organization database, this can be done via the internet, and in case of e-mail lists by contacting the administrator of the registers
