Abacus Diagnostica victorious in European Venture Summit in Berlin
Turku Science Park based Abacus Diagnostica Ltd has won the first prize in an international venture contest in Berlin. European Venture Contest was organized at the same time with the European Venture Summit 2012 in Berlin on the 6th and 7th December.
On the December 6th & 7th, Berlin was host to 130 high-tech startups companies from across Europe. These entrepreneurs gathered at the 6th edition of the European Venture Summit, Europe’s leading venture marketplace, to ‘pitch’ their business proposition to over 120 venture investors (venture capital investors, business angels and Corporate Venture Partners) looking for the right company to invest in. These investors also rated these companies’ presentations in order to rank the 25 best European high-tech companies in the European Venture Contest 2012.
The selection jury rated companies in three different categories: ICT, Cleantech and Life Sciences. The jury involved 30 members presenting some of Europe’s most active venture capital funds.
Companies were evaluated on all qualifying events, online reviews and the European Venture Summit as the EVC Final on the criteria’s like business potential, team experience, product/technology merit, competitive position, investment or partnering interest, project profile quality and presentation quality.
Turku based company Abacus Diagnostica Ltd was the best in category “Life Sciences”. Abacus’ product is GenomEra CDX™ -system for hospital and health care laboratories. It consists of automatic analyzer and tests used in it. It is based on patented DNA based technology and makes it possible to indicate infection diseases faster, more cost-effectively and more simple way.
